At Digital Excellence Network (DEN), our bye-laws are designed to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in all operations and member interactions. These guiding principles uphold the integrity of our organization and safeguard the interests of our members, supporting a professional community rooted in excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
1. Membership Terms and Conditions
Eligibility: DEN membership is open to professionals and academicians in the fields of engineering, technology, and innovation, subject to the specific criteria outlined under each membership category:
General Membership: Open to individuals with an interest in advancing their careers in engineering, technology, or related fields.
Fellow Membership: Reserved for individuals who have made substantial contributions and demonstrated outstanding achievements in their area of expertise.
Defence Membership: Specifically for professionals who have demonstrated significant contributions to the defense sector and its related technologies.
Application & Review: All applications are reviewed by a qualified panel. Fellow Membership applications undergo an additional peer review by experts as outlined below.
Fees: Membership fees, if applicable, are communicated during the application process. All fees are non-refundable and subject to change with prior notice.
Renewals: Membership must be renewed annually or biennially, depending on the membership category, to maintain active status.
Volunteer Status: All positions and roles at DEN are voluntary and unpaid.
2. Bye-Laws and Governance Structure
2.1 Executive Leadership
The Executive Committee consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and other officers as needed.
Executive officers are responsible for overseeing the operations of DEN, strategic planning, and compliance with all organizational policies.
2.2 Committees
DEN operates standing and ad hoc committees as necessary, including a Membership Committee, Events Committee, Ethics Committee, and Fellow Review Panel.
Committee members are appointed by the Executive Committee and must be active members in good standing.
2.3 Amendments
Amendments to the bye-laws must be proposed by any two executive officers and approved by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee.
All approved changes will be published and made accessible to members through the DEN website.
3. Code of Conduct
DEN maintains a strict code of conduct to ensure a professional and respectful environment:
All members shall conduct themselves with integrity, honesty, and respect for others.
Harassment, discrimination, or unethical behavior will not be tolerated.
Members are expected to represent DEN positively and professionally in all external engagements.
Violations of the code of conduct may result in suspension or termination of membership.
4. Fellow Membership Review Panel
4.1 Purpose
The Fellow Membership Review Panel is responsible for evaluating applications for DEN’s highest membership honor — Fellow Membership — based on established criteria of excellence and impact.
4.2 Composition
The panel shall consist exclusively of existing DEN Fellows in good standing or specially appointed experts approved by the Executive Committee.
Panelists must not have any conflicts of interest with the applicants they are reviewing.
4.3 Reviewer Qualifications
To maintain the integrity of the Fellow Membership selection process, all reviewers must meet the following criteria:
Hold recognized national or international standing in their respective fields, supported by a significant and sustained record of excellence.
Possess at least 10 years of distinguished professional or academic experience in their area of expertise.
Have a verifiable record of impactful contributions, including but not limited to high-impact publications, patents, technical leadership, industry awards, or groundbreaking innovations.
Possess similar membership(s) in other prestigious professional organizations that recognize individuals for their outstanding achievements in the field, such as receiving Fellow status or equivalent recognition for excellence.
Be actively engaged in the field through speaking engagements, leadership roles, editorial responsibilities, or service on advisory boards.
4.4 Evaluation Process
All applications are assessed solely on merit, based on the applicant’s documented achievements and their alignment with DEN’s eligibility standards.
Reviewer assessments are conducted independently and confidentially.
A minimum of two independent expert evaluations is required for each application.
